Feature Fridays: Spinamp

Could you introduce yourself by sharing your name, prior experience, and current role within your company? Additionally, please briefly explain your company's mission and what it offers to its customers.

I’m Aidan, founder of Spinamp. Spinamp is a blazing fast and fun way to discover new music and artists and support them by collecting their music. We’re building a better music experience for fans and artists alike!

How has your company grown and changed since its inception, and what do you have planned for its future?

Spinamp has been evolving and maturing over the last two years into a polished, consumer social product. We recently released a new major version that allows people to collect music in the app on their phone while listening on the go. We’re excited about some new upcoming features that will allow artists to upload music directly onto Spinamp, add support for tipping artists, and offer new ways to share and curate music together.

What inspired you to develop Spinamp, and how did you conceive?

When Spinamp started, the web3 music scene was fragmented and there was no easy way actually to listen to the music and discover new artists. We felt this pain and wanted to solve it for ourselves, so built Spinamp to give ourselves a much more fun time discovering and listening to music.

Can you provide insight into Spinamp’s progress by sharing any metrics or milestones indicating its traction?

Spinamp has come a long way since we started as a scrappy side project to build a web3 music player.

We’ve now become a major platform for web3 music and have strong usage and retention - most of our users are long-term and once they get familiar and start using Spinamp, they stick around.

We think retention and long term usage is missing across most of web3 social and Spinamp is focused on building a product that people keep coming back to.

Our big recent milestone is that we support collecting any music NFT on any platform in-app on mobile. Spinamp is one of the first mobile apps to have such wide support for collecting NFTs in-app. Especially for a music player, we think this is a huge unlock for the space as a whole.

How does your company utilize QuickNode, and what benefits does it bring to your business operations?

Spinamp indexes music and NFTs from multiple chains and has specialized needs for Ethereum and Solana APIs as we do a lot of simulation to ensure our data is always accurate and our ability to mint NFTs is always up to date. QuickNode’s APIs have been super reliable for us as a dependency of our indexer. What stands out is how many chains are available, since we aggregate across all chains, and the performance and reliability of their Solana APIs which we had issues with before moving to QuickNode.
